My Superhero Body – Week 2

And we’re back again, gryphans! I had a pretty good week and I’m ready to share.

Miss last week? My Superhero Body – Week 1

Post Mortem

FOOD!

I love food.
*Mr. Gryphon is also a Jake, and this is what he actually believes.

The temptation to overeat is strong with me. Every meal, every snack, I think, “I can eat just a little more, right? I worked hard, I moved a lot, surely that means I can eat all the cake, right?”

Eat all the cake!

No, that’s not what that means! The picture of Terry Crews I keep in a locket would be ashamed of me!

Don't eat all the cake!

That said, I’ve been doing pretty good. When I’m with Mrs. Gryphon, I’ve been limiting my portion sizes to match hers (mostly…). I can’t help it if they’re a tiny bit bigger than hers, there’s twice as much Mr. Gryphon as there is Mrs. Gryphon!

When I’m on my own, I’ve been snacking less, snacking smaller, and snacking smarter, and it’s starting to show!

Exercise

I finished off week two of Zombies Run 5k. The beginning of the week was rough…

Everything sucks!
*This is what Jake actually believes.

I had to push myself, and it kind of sucked, but I managed to run at least a kilometer at the end of each of my wogs.

It gets easier.
*This is also what Jake actually believes.

Much to my surprise, running a full lap around the park, a full kilometer, got easier. By the end of the week, I was running about a kilometer and a half before I felt like my ability to take in oxygen wasn’t keeping up and I had to slow to a walk.

This is an amazing change in just a few weeks. When I ran week one of zombies run for the first time leading up to Week Zero it was a struggle to run for 15 seconds at a go. Now I can run for 10 minutes and I hardly even feel like I’m going to throw up!

The craziest change has been that I’m actually starting to look forward to my workouts. Heck, yesterday I went for a quick wog just because I felt like I needed to move. I walked to the park, ran a quick lap, and walked home.

I did this on my own.

No Zombies, Run! No pre-planned workout.

I just wanted to run for a bit. Stretch my legs…

I'm scared.
Who am I becoming?! What’s happening?!

Weekly Weigh-In

The Numbers

On June 5th, 2017:

  • I weigh 297.0 pounds
  • My body fat is 38.0%
  • That means 112.9 pounds of me is fat

In the last week:

  • I’ve lost 4.7 pounds
  • I’ve lost 3.0 pounds of fat

Since I’ve started:

  • I’ve lost 8.4 pounds
  • I’ve lost 5.3 pounds of fat

Pictures

Lookin' good!
(Artist’s rendition of this week’s progress)

On a serious note, I think I’ll just do the pictures monthly going forward, then the change will be all, like, “Whoah!” when you see it.

Moving Forward

This week, the plan to keep moving forward is pretty darn simple:

Just keep swimming!

That’s right, I plan to just keep on keeping on.

My fooding is going well, so I’ll just keep trying to eat responsibly, and I’m sure I’ll have moderate success. There will be naughty eating, but always less naughty than the week before.

I’m moving on to the week 3 of Zombies, Run! 5k, which ramps up the challenge with longer runs, so we’ll see whether or not I die! I’m also going to change up where I’m running and plot a few paths around the neighborhood to change up the scenery. I love running at the park and all, but I think I need a little change here and there.

Until next week, gryphans!

  1. Sounds like you are doing quite well! I’m trying to move more even though I don’t quite have it in me to go run 😛

    I’m very proud of you!
